Communication is one of three character traits described in Blake Prepares For Manufacturing. The three character traits in the book teach Future Makers how to act to win in manufacturing. Communication is critical in manufacturing and effective communicators use more than one type of communication.

At MAKE we encourage time-based building challenges to highlight why time management matters in manufacturing.

Why measurement? This skill is used not only in manufacturing but all around us. Introduction and development of this to the next generation can be built on over time with a lasting impact of success in their career and daily life. Below are a few examples of how you can introduce measurement and see it grow with your Future Maker.

Stacking blocks into towers, taking toys apart to see how they work, or spending hours with homemade creations - are all passions of our Future Makers. It’s problem solving, creativity with purpose directly related to the world of manufacturing and some truly awesome careers.

Manufacturing Month is almost here and we are thrilled to share MAKE is partnering with Minnesota Precision Manufacturing Association (MPMA) and Creative Planning, for a special initiative aimed at connecting manufacturers with local schools.

At MAKE, our team creates engaging books and experiences to educate, inspire and equip kids to win in manufacturing. By connecting imagination with real-world skills, MAKE helps kids explore the world of manufacturing.

This month we are highlighting tools. Tools are devices that are made to carry out a specific function. Tools make manufacturing possible. What better time to learn about tools than right now as a kid and with MAKE through our three pillars - Read, Build and Experience.

As we prepare for a new year, we are reminded of the opportunities that lie ahead when we take a new approach. Our team at MAKE was thrilled to introduce kids to a new way of learning about manufacturing in 2024. We are excited for next year and developing content to support our pillars of Read, Build, and Experience. Together we can make manufacturing better in the future!

The Apple Tower Challenge is hands-on learning with concepts like engineering principles, improving fine motor skills and boosting confidence.

The Animal Home Challenge is hands-on learning with concepts like balance, structure, and spatial awareness.

Medical manufacturing is a significant sector to Minnesota and filled with manufacturers doing the job well. The Doctor’s Building Activity is focused inspiring young minds to be creative and think outside the box.

The Manufacturing a Guard Tower activity is designed to develop your Future Makers’ manufacturing and measurement skills, while also paying tribute to the many guard towers our military has built.

Join us in the I Can Label Challenge through our Future Makers newsletter subscription. This activity shows the importance of labeling your work so that your product can be understood by those who you work with.

It is time to build a house in this months’ manufacturing activity. Design and build using common household items like pipe cleaners and straws.

Gather your materials and get ready for an exciting and rewarding adventure in the Build a Bridge activity. While this activity is fun, it also offers numerous development and educational benefits for children of all ages.
